Introduction to the Sauternes appelletion :
The Sauternes appellation in the Bordeaux region which consists of 5 commons : Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Sauternes. They are all
located on the left bank of the Garonne and the Ciron river. This vineyard is
recognized worldwide by these château, especially that of Yquem, the only château
ranked first in this appellation.
The Sauternes appellation are on 2200 hectares for a production of 41000 hectolitres of wine per year. This wines produced are sweet white wines, made from semillon white mainly, muscadelle and sauvignon, these grape varieties can be used alone or in blends.
Description of the Castle :
Castle Yquem was founded at beginning of 18th century. In 1855, the castle has been classified in « premier cru supérieur ».
The domain exploits 102 hectares of vines. The grape varieties use for to make this sweet white wine are semillon with 75% of surfaces and sauvignon with 25% of surfaces.
Sweets whites wines are wines with a important quality of sugar, 70g/l.

Tasting :
The robe is golden color with golden glints.
The nose recalls wax and honey then reveals candied notes of acaia and linden.
The mouth is creamy, characterized by orange, apricot and honey. A very nice acidity so a beautiful length in the mouth.
