I knew this prestigious Château from several years ago, located on one of the most renowned appellations of the Gironde. Cos d'Estournel is undoubtedly a must visit of Saint-Estèphe appellation, both for the visual or the taste !

It was in 2018 that I had the opportunity to discover this Domain perched on its hill for real. A fascinating one-month internship that I want to share with you today.

If there is an emblematic character in this palace, there is no doubt that is Louis Gaspard d'Estournel !

Acquired Cos and one of his neighbors in 1791, he never ceased to innovate for his property. His debts required him to resold several times.

His curiosity and culture have turned him in fond of India and he draws inspiration over the years for the architecture of his empire.

Beyond the architectural originality of the castle, it benefits from a real advanced technology.

Thanks to their investments, the cellars have been renovated with modern technology ! Since 2006, Cos d'Estournel has been focusing on respect for each steps thanks to the gravity system. He was the first to do everything from the harvest reception to bottling, letting the power of gravity take over. They do without pump and it's better for the wines quality.

An internship both masculine than muscular !

To be honest, I'm far from being the most muscular woman! Very far from being able to make the weight with the 2 other women present in the cellars.

My first week was pretty well in the white winery. I was accompanied by another woman, we took great care of all the barrels she describes as her children.

Once in the red winery, the second week everything has changed! A team only composed of male, teasing women. Although my Herculean strength, you will note the irony, did not allow me to follow, but my hyper sociability quickly forged a place in the group. The working atmosphere was very good, and...I miss it a little !

A visit more than unexpected

It is not uncommon to receive famous people when we talk about great wines, but for the first time since its existence, Cos d'Estournel had the honor of welcoming several personalities.

We were the last weekend of my internship, stress and enthusiasm were slightly felt in the service of wine tourism. It was at the evening that I understood why. The Château was preparing to welcome people such as Eva Longoria, a wine passionate, and Gordon Ramsay, a very charming character. Everything had to be perfect! Hoping they enjoyed Cos d'Estournel.
